FIXER Advances its Cloud Business for Financial Institutions and Enters the FinTech Market

FIXER supports the development of Gracone's overseas remittance service that utilizes blockchain technology. FIXER Inc. (HQ: Minato, Tokyo; President and CEO: Seiichi Matsuoka) has announced its plans to enter the FinTech market, by utilizing its proprietary knowledge and the technological ability it has cultivated through the cloud integration business on which the company has focused its efforts since its establishment. FIXER has set its medium-term sales target for this business at 10 billion yen by 2020.

Furthermore, to coincide with the start of this business, FIXER plans to support the development of KIZUNA, a platform created by Gracone (HQ: Shibuya, Tokyo; Representative: Mai Fujimoto) for the purpose of connecting benefactors and beneficiaries of BitCoin donations.

Recently, as the utilization of IT such as blockchain technology in the financial market attracts more and more attention, FIXER has also been simultaneously making efforts to develop cloud-based financial systems that utilize Microsoft Azure, and promoting research into technological platforms and system operations.

As a result of this research, FIXER determined that this technology has the potential to play an important role in the financial industry, and made the decision to expand and advance its FinTech business. FIXER has high expectations of this technology for its uses not only for financial systems, but also in a variety of fields. The company is therefore making efforts to develop these services with its sights set on expanding the business further into non-financial areas. FIXER is also enhancing the education of its internal human resources for the purpose of further developing this business.

About KIZUNA

KIZUNA is a platform that connects benefactors and beneficiaries of donations by using BitCoin. There are many common issues associated with systems for making charitable donations, such as the prevalence of remittance methods with low cost-effectiveness and the fact that many such mechanisms lack transparency, meaning that benefactors are often unsure whether their donations are truly reaching the people who need them.

By making use of the power of technologies such as BitCoin and blockchains, KIZUNA helps to resolve such issues. As part of the development of KIZUNA, FIXER is responsible for building and operating the service by using Microsoft's public cloud, Microsoft Azure, as the platform, and for providing customer support such as customer information management. FIXER also provides technological support for the provision of a service with a highly flexible access load and robust cybersecurity.

Furthermore, FIXER plans to provide, on a wide scale, the mechanism that makes KIZUNA possible, as an open source corporate social responsibility (CSR) platform to advance the CSR activities of corporate enterprises.

FIXER has received the following endorsement from Microsoft Japan regarding this announcement.

■ Akihiro Takahashi, Executive General Manager and Executive Officer, Microsoft Japan

Microsoft Japan gladly welcomes this announcement of FIXER's entry into the FinTech field. The announcement of the joint development by FIXER and Gracone of KIZUNA, an overseas remittance platform that makes use of blockchain technology and BitCoin, represents the creation of new value in the financial market, and we believe that it will also play a role in the future expansion of the FinTech market.

In addition, the fact that Microsoft Azure was selected for use in this service says to us that Azure is trusted as a public cloud that is suitable, in a variety of ways including security, for enterprise use. Microsoft Japan plans to continue to collaborate with FIXER to support digital transformations that bring new value to our customers' businesses.

For FIXER, the release of KIZUNA marks the beginning of the company's efforts to expand its FinTech business through the combination of cutting-edge technologies, to create new value, and to create new services that bring innovation to the financial market.
